"General Ike" off to bomb Germany. General Eisenhower shakes hands with members of the crew of the latest model Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress, at an 8th Air Force base. The new "Fort" has just been christened "General Ike", has the Bendix remote control chin turret, and is unpainted for an extra five miles of cruising speed. Col. Putnam, Group Commander, grins in approval, and later filled in the General with probable type of plane's first mission. Time is spring of '44, and the plane was commissioned in time to aid pre-invasion air campaign.
